This page describes the process by which a Kantara Initiative (KI) Work Group (WG) is approved by the Leadership Council (LC). The page is separated into two parts: one designed to help KI Members who want to form a new Work Group, and the other explains the mechanics required of the LC to approve it.

Leadership Council Approval Process

  1. The Proposing Member obtains a blank Work Group Charter template and fill fills it out.
  2. Submit The Proposing Member submits the completed WG Charter to the Leadership Council Secretary.
  3. Be prepared to answer questions posed by the LC and/or join an LC teleconference.
  4. A vote on the WG Charter will be held within 30 days of the submission.

Leadership Council Approval Process

  1. The LC Secretary accepts the WG Charter, working with Kantara Initiative Staff to ensure the charter LC Secretary.
  2. The LC Secretary, in conjunction with the KI Staff, review the WG Charter to ensure it adheres to the rules laid out in the KI Bylaws and Operating Procedure documents.
    KI Staff add the charter NOTE: This step is only to ensure the charter adheres to the form, and does not include any vetting of the content.
  3. The LC Secretary notifies the Proposing Member when the WG Charter is officially accepted.
  4. KI Staff adds the WG Charter to the wiki, beginning the public review periodforwarding the link to the LC Secretary for distribution.
  5. The LC Secretary announces to the LC discussion list that a new WG Charter is available for review, along with a link to the wiki page.
  6. The LC Chair, working with the LC and Proposing Member, sets a date for voting on the WG Charter, to be held within 30 days of being received by the LC Secretary.
