The Kantara-eCitizen Foundation pilot will model and architect a solution for patient identity based on a use case where the patient initiates a request for an electronic copy of their health information that involves two separate health service providers. We assume a web site that the patient has access to that contains the patient's Personal Health Record – patient accessible site.

  • - Use case description: In MN, student sets up portal for their records. When in MA, they are reminded of the treatment and of the patients text/email to show up in the patient portal page with notification of treatment, they seek out clinic, at clinic they request health record, then shows up on their site, they can print and share with the clinic onsite. Student is testing, the clinic has to give electronic result to the student accessible site within 72 hours. Nice to have a graph to show what the test results are for patient

Open architecture.

Open architecture, Identity in an open, reusable way.

We have to stage it and out of scope

How dow we connect NHIN to portal, new NHIN, XDR push specification to push data from one HIE to another, this would be a good mechanism for the reminder/clinical recommendation. This should execute the 3 use-cases.

How are the permissions gathered? NHIN supports exchange of XML file of consumer preferences between HIEs, this has not been implemented by anyone. We model authentication and exchange.

Patient has portal with Health provider, they can access records, go somewhere else, want to link back to their original healthcare provider. The identity issues are already solved, the providers have provided credential management. How does the person make a link to the other location. Patient has info uploaded. There is a service authenticating the service, how do you link them at that portal to the health provider
