Work Group Approval Process
Working Draft
This page is a Working Draft and has not been approved. Leadership Council members can comment directly within this wiki page. Non-members can submit comments to an LC member for consideration.
Overview
This page describes the process by which a Kantara Initiative (KI) Work Group (WG) is approved by the Leadership Council (LC). The page is separated into two parts: one designed to help KI Members who want to form a new Work Group, and the other explains the mechanics required of the LC to approve it.
How to Start a Work Group
- A KI Member obtains a blank Work Group Charter template and fill it out.
- Submit the completed WG Charter to the Leadership Council Secretary.
- Be prepared to answer questions posed by the LC and/or join an LC teleconference.
- A vote on the WG Charter will be held within 30 days of the submission.
That's it. Time to start the work!
Leadership Council Approval Process
- The LC Secretary accepts the WG Charter, working with Kantara Initiative Staff to ensure the charter adheres to the rules laid out in the KI Bylaws and Operating Procedure documents.
- KI Staff add the charter to the wiki, beginning the public review period.
- LC Secretary announces to the LC discussion list that a new WG Charter is available for review, along with a link to the wiki page.
- LC Chair sets a date for voting on the WG Charter, to be held within 30 days of being received by the LC Secretary.
NOTE: Voting for WG Charters can be held via the LC discussion list or teleconference. In order to be approved, a WG Charter must receive a Simple Majority of the LC Member votes.
