Minutes

  1. Discuss possibilities for working with the US government's Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) project on consumer identity issues.
Level of assurance 1, government working with KI, Open ID, ICF. In the interest of Consumer identity, we want a higher identity assurance. Bob reached out to colleagues in the community Judith Spencer, Peter Alterman, Don Rhoades and proposed solution to level 3 credentials - bank account holders could receive level 3 credentials issued by a consortium acting as the IdP. Government in the past hinted they could provide seed money, now this is questionable. The financial services industry do not declare a specific need. What could this group do for the Government to help with the higher assurance? Does the financial industry require this? FSISAC would be interested to help but needs funding. PayPal might have an interest.
  2. Discuss feasibility of WG receiving outside funding to support WG activities.
Funding and project request should be sent to the Leadership Council, then to Trustees.
  3. Review Consumer Identity Topics of Interest
Business Value for the Consumer - no definite mapping of higher assurance, there is some overlap within WGs. What is it going to take to get high assurance credentials for consumers? The goal would be to define higher levels of assurance. Develop the discussion, are there participants to help do the work via resources, contributors, funding. Bob will outline the focus for the group and send to the list serve and suggest a call in the coming week or two at the new time of 09:00 PST/12:00 EST
  4. WG elections
Following on from the recent nomination poll for chair of the Consumer Identity WG we received nominations that Bob Pinheiro of Robert Pinheiro Consulting to act as chair. If we only have one nomination per position there is no need to hold an election, meaning only one nominee - that nominee is automatically appointed. Therefore the Consumer Identity WG hereby nominates Bob Pinheiro to serve as chair of this Working Group.
