(1) Discussion Group Name
Identity Community Monitoring and Interface - Discussion Group (ICMI-DG)

(2) Discussion Topic/Purpose/Motivation
The goal of the ICMI-DG is to provide a mechanism for Kantara Initiative participants to keep the initiative updated with the status of other related projects. As a nexus point for project information, a secondary goal is to provide liaison opportunities between Kantara Initiative and related projects.
Activities of the ICMI-DG may include:

  • Monitoring, aggregating, and making available summary information on the identity-related activities within various standards bodies, projects, and discussion groups (collectively: the Identity Community).
  • Encouraging liaison opportunities between the Identity Community and the Kantara Initiative Work Groups and Discussion Groups.
  • Encouraging participation and liaison activities with the ICMI-DG by leveraging teleconferences, discussion lists, blog postings, podcasts, and other communication tools.
  • Flagging for various Kantara Initiative projects when potential synergies appear within the Identity Community landscape.
  • Maintaining a list of Identity Community events and, where appropriate:
    • suggest speakers from the Identity Community for Kantara Initiative events,
    • suggest Kantara Initiative speakers for Identity Community events, and
    • support the execution of affiliated Identity Community events.
  • Providing an interface point for the Kantara Initiative outreach projects (e.g. marketing efforts) to solicit input for communications (e.g. collateral materials and contributed articles) from the Identity Community.

ICMI-DG will operate under the "Option Apache" as outlined in the document "Kantara Initiative: Intellectual Property Rights Policies", Version 1.0, dated April 3, 2009, with the proviso that all contributions to the Discussion Group are released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 license (ported by country).
