BoT matters

BoT liaison report:

At-large Trustees: At the recent quorate call, the 2 at large Trustees vote did not yet pass, the BoT are still working to pass it.

Sub committee: The motion for the creation of confidential liaisons (e.g. NSTIC, ISO) was passed and is moving forward.  Joni is working on an NDA and it's close to being firmed up, participants will sign the NDA and a wiki page will be set up to populate all data.

Budget: The group are watching the budget very closely as things iron out in the New Year.  Japan WG items were discussed for further clarification.  The Officers/Trustees will then inform LC so budget allocations can be assigned for 2011.

Membership Recruitment and incentive: Looking for ideas on how to gain new members and an incentive to gain funding. 10% of Y is the consensus. If a WG member attracts X member at Y revenue, WG member's group will get % of Y revenue of X member. What happens if more than one person involved in the recruitment? (Answer: Open question still). What happens if WG member recruiting is a member of more than one WG (Answer: they get to choose which WG gets the % of revenue). The work group should decide where they spend the funds and supply the LC with a supporting project plan (this will follow very closely from the 'Group Reports').

Alternative % of Y incentive option: Split funds between recruiter and the work group when member joins the KI organization.

There are alternatives to % of Y as an incentive; e.g. WG gets priority on KI project funds, WG gets a press release about their work, first choice feature/plug in an event or Summit, waiving meeting fees (noting new members joining Kantara in first 6 months of 2011 would receive the 2010 rates = 10% discount). Focus on organization members only to make it worthwhile.

We discussed the possibility that incentives could include the flexibility for the awardee to choose from a menu of options (e.g., cash for the group, cash for the individual, press release, funding priority), rather than the LC having to define a specific benefit.

Fall member meeting: Are members open to meeting on a weekend day?  e.g. Sunday.  Table for next meeting.
