Overview

What is it?

UMA is an award-winning OAuth-based protocol set that helps individuals manage third-party access to their data, content, and service resources across different identity and resource ecosystems.

  • The UMA 2.0 specs have been stable since 2018 (see resource links above)

  • Our more recent efforts have been developing sector-specific use cases to facilitate adoption

  • We are currently (Jul/Aug 2022) working on an updated WG charter (Draft) which contains a list of future work for the next ~12 months

We meet on an alternating schedule, every Thursday at either 930ET or 1ET

UMA extension efforts

We are undertaking some important new work on an UMA "relationship manager" extension to fully enable a resource owner dashboard experience, and more. Don't miss the UMA2 masterclass delivered by two UMAnitarians at the Identiverse conference in Boston in June 2018 (slides and video).
