Trust Framework Meta Model WG (TFMMWG)

PURPOSE: Please provide a clear statement of purpose and justification why the proposed WG is necessary.

The purpose of this workgroup is to define a Trust Framework Meta Model. The Trust Framework Meta Model will define the components of a Trust Framework and provide a mechanism for comparing Trust Frameworks developed by communities. The Trust Framework Meta Model would be a reference resource not only within Kantara Initiative activities but also for any community seeking to understand the Trust Framework concept and potentially as guidance toward the development of Trust Framework components. This group would also serve as a convergence point for Trust Framework activities within Kantara (regarding how they fit in to the TFMM) as well as for external groups (referenced under Related Work and Liaisons) such that each work could be understood in terms of placement according to the TFMM.

SCOPE: Explain the scope and definition of the planned work.

Define a model that explains Trust Framework components in terms of common terminology. Trust Framework Meta Model would also strive to define each of the Trust Framework actors and their scope and relationship to each other. Ultimately the Trust Framework Meta Model would define a controlled vocabulary and mapping tool for Trust Frameworks which would seek to provide analysis of level of controls, to show gaps, granularity and potential over-specification in a Trust Framework. This tool would enable communities of Trust toward resolution in current organizational offerings and finally tie-together all of the actors, definitions, roles and responsibilities that come under the Trust Framework model.
