Key purpose, services, user community, numbers: epSOS (European Patients Smart Open Services) is large scale pilot of currently 12 EU member states co-funded by the European Commission. Its purpose is to define the architecture for the cooperation of member (and other European) states to exchange health data across borders, and implement pilots for the ePrescription and Patient Summary use cases. Pilot operation started in January 2011.
