The CARIN Alliance is very focused on building consumer trust in the healthcare sector and want to promote an individual’s right to access their medical provider and request a copy of their protected health information under HIPAA which can be directed to a third party of their choice. For underserved populations that might be a unique opportunity for Kantara to explore a trust framework model and vision, under its Trustworthy banner, along with the REUP, IA and user receipt WGs coupled with pairing with non-profit hospitals or for-profit entities.

Jim challenges them to look at 800-63-4 and Kantara trudge banner to set up a process for orgs that serve vulnerable populations.
Dr Tom asks if they can “borrow” http://ID.me framework. They likely have underserved as customers. Black Hall is the contact there. Maybe Kay can talk to them?
Jim recommends waiting until final comes out in September.
Focus on healthcare:
Needs ties to local caring community and local government. Gov can enforce fraud/abuse rules.
Hospitals powerful, but those that accept Medicare (most) are under government scrutiny.
NIST considers itself “industry agnostic” but this focus means they may not consider Medicare as a solution, though it could be viable.
