US Assurance Program updates

Kay/Carol

  • Applications are spinning up after a slow start to the year, including non-US companies wanting to do US business

General issues

All

  • YS: Some CSPs consider that the NIST 800-63 requirements are not really structurally built to meet the needs of “current” service provider implementations. Today, CSPs sub-contract many functions - and this is hard to capture and ends up in increased complexity.

  • Industry input would be useful - to see if there’s an improvement to be had to better align to actual implementations?

  • An example: GSA has internal forms to determine which services are offered by which applicants to the GSA SIN

  • IAWG must be clear about approach and scope - is it time to break away from strict 800-63 organization? or is it time to do a more broadly applicable set of requirements?

  • This could be an opportunity to engage a broader range of stakeholders - this could be a significant shift so we want to be sure that we are making sound decisions.

  • To be continued…
