Goals

Meeting Minutes:

  • Item 1: Specifications for Consent Receipt

    • @iainh1 NA (Unlicensed) and @Mark Lizar (Unlicensed) started working on this on Tuesday, seeking to develop specifications aimed at dissemination through @iainh1 NA (Unlicensed)'s website

    • @Former user (Deleted) suggested that specification by example will be the best way to move forward, as a prototype will help potential users understand the project and technologists to develop it

    • Consent Receipt request available here: One Party: Consent Receipt Request (CRR) Research Outline Draft v.1 and Consent Receipt Request Instructions - California Draft

    • @Former user (Deleted) suggests that it will take a week minimum to draft basic specifications with a skilled editor

    • Action Point: @Mark Lizar (Unlicensed) aims to have draft completed by 13 May

    • Ad-Hoc Spec writing virtual workshop this Thurs - May 1st - everyone is welcome - 7pm UK time

      • Mark & Mary will get together the bits of the spec done so far together and get a google doc setup so everyone who wishing can then contribute and work on it

  • Item 2: Funding Proposals

    • Knight News Challenge submission for Round 2 was successfully submitted by @Former user (Deleted) and @Mark Lizar (Unlicensed), submission available here: https://www.newschallenge.org/challenge/2014/refinement/open-notice-consent-receipts-by-open-notice-initiative-and-ciswg-of-kantara-ieee-isto

      • Budget proposal of USD $500,000 reflects that we have one of the biggest projects being proposed

    • We are waiting to hear back from the Technology Strategy Board, probably by next week

    • @Mark Lizar (Unlicensed) and @Former user (Deleted) are submitting a proposal to the Open Technology Fund on 1 May

    • Relevant European Commission Horizon 2020 deadline is 28 August

      • One established consortium has invited us to participate and OKF has agreed to act as an anchor if Open Notice wants to form its own consortium; we have limited industry legitimacy to organise this and seek that level of funding

      • Action item: find alternate consortiums to join for this H2020 application

  • Item 3: Upcoming Conferences & Project

    • @Former user (Deleted) highlighted upcoming CMU conference on Choice & Consent; proposition papers are due next week and @Mark Lizar (Unlicensed) affirmed that we are seeking to submit a proposal (individual availability not yet confirmed); @Former user (Deleted) has requested that the notes be shared through the listserv

    • Submission to HotPETS in Amsterdam is done

    • Submission to SOUPS is underway, @Mark Lizar (Unlicensed) and @John Wunderlich will work on this; @John Wunderlich may be able to attend this event on behalf of Open Notice

    • MIT Media Labs is hosting a Legal Hackathon on 12-13 June, for which we will have draft specification reader

    • @Mark Lizar (Unlicensed) will be in Berlin next week to develop connections and set up for Open Knowledge Foundations Hackathon on 12-13 July

    • Action item: draft document on Intellectual Property and collaboration to share with CISWG

  • Ad-Hoc Spec writing virtual workshop this Thurs - May 1st - everyone is welcome - 7pm UK time

    • Mark & Mary will get together the bits of the spec done so far together and get a google doc setup so everyone who wishing can then contribute and work on it
