Updates

  • Colin shared his blog for March: 2020: March
  • He stressed on our role to share the experience of virtual work in this difficult time. ID Pro has some good tips for  working online: https://www.idpro.org/
  • He added that some progress has been made in terms mDL Mobile Drivers Licence) and the creation of a WG to progress its use as a mobile identification tool. Newly released is the Secure Technology Alliance (STA)'s mDL White Paper that Kantara members Exponent, Idemia, individual contributor members David Kelts & Ken Dagg and Staff gave time and effort to. The challenges published there are informing our perspective on the work items of the workgroup.  It's quite an art to locate and align Replying Parties requirements with the priorities of vendors, together with Kantara's capabilities, so expect it to take a little while yet.

Discuss Comments on PCTF Verified Person, Privacy, and Glossary

  • Ken explained  the PCTF Term Relationships diagram PCTF Term Relationships.pptx, which shows the interpretation of the relationship of components within the Glossary.  He added that the diagram represents his interpretation of the relationships between the following terms in the PCTF Glossary: -Digital Identity

    -Digital Representation
    -Person
    -Service
    -Subject
    -User

  • Martin said that it is a great illustration of the relationships. He asked about the terms "Subscriber and Applicant". Ken clarified that "Applicant and Subscriber" were not included in the diagram as he considered them to be types of User. That is, an Applicant is a User who applies to use a Service and a Subscriber is a User who subscribes to, or has been accepted to use, a Service. Furthermore, these two terms are not currently used in the PCTF. It was agreed to add a note to the diagram clarifying that.
  • Richard remarked that the service definition should be expanded to "which a user needs authenticated access". Ken agreed that in this case the relationship implies that the user requires authenticated access to the service. Therefore, he will change the direction of the arrow and the word on the relationship and reflect that the service requires authentication of its users.
  • Barry suggested to add "biological" to entity in definition of Individual/person. Moreover, he asked if in the definition of digital identity should be "represents" or "identifies". Ken said that PCTF uses "represents", so the user can represent themselves or it can represent another subject. If a user presents information about the subject, the information is collected into a digital identity that is used to represent that subject in transactions.
  • Ken will update the diagram according to the comments received during the meeting.
