Dear GÉANT Fedlab Project members,
On behalf of the Kantara Initiative and the respective Telecommunications Identity Work Group (TIWG), Federation Interoperability Work Group (FIWG) & Interoperability Review Board (IRB), we would like to formally recognize the efforts of the GEANT3 Identity Federations project team.
In particular, the Kantara Initiative Telecommunications Identity Work Group has been following the project closely. We see important value in your research and implementations of federation technologies. Of particular interest is research on discovery and UI scalability, formalization of federation best practices, encouragement of interoperability through SAML profile development and automated testing technology.
We especially see high value in the innovative automated testing tools for service providers provided by the fed-lab.org website. These tools will further encourage interoperability and accelerate identity federation adoption.
The goal of the Kantara Initiative Telecommunications Identity Work Group is to help reconciling fragmented efforts in the telco specifications development area and in the telco market place regarding Identity Management.
The goal of the Federation Interoperability Work Group is to profile existing specifications to define an interoperable trust infrastructure for use by parties participating in Trust Frameworks. This will allow entities to determine the certification status and configuration parameters of entities outside of their local federation.
The IRB is a Board of Trustee sub-committee providing Interoperability Program oversight.
Perhaps Kantara Initiative & it's IRB can remain in touch regarding future use of the Fedlab facilities if you are interested and in agreement?
Congratulations on your progress to date! We wish you continued success with the project.
Signed
Kantara Initiative
Matthew Gardiner, President Kantara Initiative
