Minutes - User Driven and Volunteered Personal Information (Tech), Monday 3rd August 2009
Iain said he had updated the requirements spreadsheet as per the last call, and added that to the wiki along with a space for comment. But it emerged that this had been sent to the wrong e-mail address for the list; the list address having changed when the various work group names in the founding group were 'cleaned up'.
Iain will re-send the last meeting notes to the correct address and ask for feedback on the requirements listing by e-mail as well as via the phone conferences.
Iain flagged an emerging concern over multiple different groups looking at 'terms of service' as an issue, including UD-VPI group, DataPortability group, Berkman Centre, Privacy Commons. Not sure how that will work out, but we should keep very focused on VPI contract as a very specific and new type of contract.
Eve shared a template that could be used to begin to document our use cases/ scenario's/ specs in a format that could move towards standards development; Iain to review and feedback on the next call.
Iain raised a query over whether we need a second working group to address UD and VPI issues from the policy and commerce perspective under a different IP regime (Creative Commons) from the tech standards group (Kantara IP policy). This was the original thinking prior to Kantara gettng up and running, Iain to sense-check before moving forward as charter would need to be completed and ratified before 14th Sept.
The group face to face meeting is scheduled for the Wednesday (16th) of the Kantara Conference; see below for conference details. We will set the agenda for the face to face via e-mail and the conference call immediately before the conference.
