AIMWG CHARTER REVIEW SUGGESTIONS

...as suggested by Joni
  • Review AMDG recommendations and determine if work plan for each is needed OR if they have been overcome by events.
  • Include WG 'accepted' items not captured in to AIMWG charter.
  • Update charter to add language indicating that new work items may be proposed as research develops.

Recommendations taken from AMDG Report

Discussion

Question is – is there alignment between the AIM WG Charter and the AM DG report and we know this is an action to review that Allan took.

Action: The AMDG report should at least have mention in the Charter and that it would consumed as input and incorporated as appropriate in to the identified WG deliverables.

Specifically, the Work Group will create a set of best practice documents around:

  • The handling of attributes by Identity Providers, Relying Parties, and Service Providers
  • The definition and proposed use for contexts
  • The definition, best use, requirements and criteria of an Attribute Broker

Possible to make the charter more generic?

ADD TO CHARTER: There may be additional documents proposed for creation as further research becomes available it may be incorporated as appropriate in to a AIM WG work item.

ACTION: Pull out recommendations from AM DG report so that AIMWG people can more easily review them. DONE

Possible: add value statements with recommendations to help determine who might want to see the work done and provide resources.

UK Gov has listed the attributes that they’ll be looking – UK and US have identified some sets of attributes but it seems there’s no actual document to describe

Basic document that identifies what attributes are needed at what levels of assurance would be a useful item.

Basic document on how Attributes would be assured or Verified?

Role of public sector in helping established trusted attributes.

Authoritative vs Derived (derived is also called “registered” that were acquired from somewhere else).

Identified that there is not an accepted terminology around Attribute Management.

Authoritative can be become derived and derived can be come authoritative. == Attributes in Motion

X-509 has some starting definitions.

New Zealand is having some similar discussions right now. Colin will try to send some pointers to the group.
