Discussion – Report

  • Ken: LoA is fine where it is; Colin's question about building on an IAWG experience about this should be answered "YES"; query language question - two parts? a discovery about what an IdP might have, and the other be how to communicate a request/response for attributes; HF: this was about the structure of the request, a fairly technical thing, a query/response that contains information about the attribute; the discovery concept is a valuable contribution there; Keith: the whole SAML metadata standards, and the various federations' standards about that are a step in this direction - that isn't quite a query language, but it's a start; this issue is part of a larger issue about the infrastructure of attributes
  • Sal: a picture/graphic in this document would be helpful "the Attribute Ecosystem" - the various components required for this to work, what are the gaps between the actors; if not in this document, perhaps somewhere
  • Colin: the range of concepts discussed so far aren't really reflected in the Query Language section
  • Ken: what about Context? Should it be looked at from different lenses? HF: each of those different groups has to deal with context, tho' they may not deal with it the same way; Sal: likes the fine-grainedness of the concept
  • Colin: report can't go out without dropping in LDAP and X509 somewhere, maybe under industry efforts and standards
  • Joanne: it would be helpful to have more description regarding the efforts; just because there are efforts in that space, doesn't mean they are fully covering the gaps
  • we will target this to be wrapped up and turned over to the LC by March 27
