4. Old Business

Organization development

Reviewed the Kantara situation with Mary.

Kantara is looking for input.

Customer Commons

Mary gave an update. She's work on two salons.  One on personal clouds. With Drummond and Johannes talking about their projects. September 27th. Perhaps at Mozilla in Mountain View.  Monday before IIW, perhaps a hack day+ before, in coordination with Activity Streams, VRM, and Federated Social Web. FSW is about portable data. Activity Streams is about events. All are about user control.  6 min lightning talks. Open, but with advance notice. Maybe an ice cream social.

Research stuff is also moving forward. Working on how to talk about CC to appeal to grants. Focusing on early usability studies.

Sneaky Bastards is alive again, rustling up conversations about how the Olympics are being broadcasts, with public input (voting) on how the Olympics might be better.  Unfortunately, the shows have no interest in making it possible for people to pay beyond the current channels. Some shows do, but most opt-out.

Interestingly, there are VPNs that let you get into, for example, BBC Olympic coverage, by tunneling to the UK. On the order of $30/month.

Standard Label Specification

There's an updated version that's just waiting for a few more things to get published. Removed “Record”, added Version information, alphabetized the glossary, removed requirement for a particular icon.

Let's right down what's happening in the public initiative and here's what's running along side it.

Current Demo

Code repository can be found at https://github.com/jandrieu/Standard-Label

UK NSTIC (Internet of things project)

Nothing of note. Submission Deadline 8/22. Iain is planning on submitting something.
