2. ONC Demonstration Area at HIMSS

Pete Palmer: HIMSS traditionally has an area for the IAG Interoperability Showcase. Last year, ONC had their own showcase adjacent to IAG. We applied to be in the ONC section and we were approved, however the kiosk costs $7500. John, Dan and myself had a discussion about how this will be paid, whether Kantara should cover it or if the fee could be paid. I have no idea where we’re at at this point, ONC has not gotten back to me. Dan, have you heard back from Ivy?

Dan Combs: No

Pete Palmer: At this point, I don’t think it’s worth it to go forward.

Dan Combs: It’s a nice opportunity. We could probably come up with some options to at least have a demo, but the challenge is all the parts and pieces that would have to come together in order to raise the funds. A contracted payment was technically due last week, but if ONC responds stating that we could waive the fee or extend the due date, then we’ll have to have another discussion about what we want to do.

John Fraser: Don’t think there’s time, I think we should rule this out and move on.

Dan Combs: We can still use the fact that we were selected and I plan to put that up on the PIDS website, even though we won’t attend.

3. PIDS Update

Dan Combs: We’re working on identifying potential grant sources and we will be submitting applications. We’re in various conversations with different government organizations about development and participation in PIDS. There’s a fair amount of activity. I’m somewhat reluctant to talk about the specifics because most of these discussions are still in early phases, but hopefully these conversations will evolve into good partnerships.

John Fraser: Clearly we need funding so I encourage all of you to send ideas for funding sources to Daniel and Dan, or the whole group.
